External Microphone and Vista

I want to use an external microphone using the audiobox usb. Audacity recognizes the mixer, but the microphone is not listed in the drop down menu. All of the drivers have been updated. Any help with this is greatly appreciated

Windows is only going to see the device that's physically plugged into the USB connection. This connection identity will not change whether you have a microphone plugged in to the adapter or mixer or not.

Now I'm realizing that audacity only recognizes the mixer as a usb speaker. I loaded audacity on an XP system and it seemed to work fine, so I can't figure out why in the world it wouldn't work on Vista
