I recently completely uninstalled my old sound card and installed Creative's X-Fi XtremeGamer card. Everything seems to work fine when I play sounds, but for some reason Audacity crashes upon opening. I tried uninstalling it, removing registry entries, and reinstalling it, but no go. Any ideas?
Also, my OS is Vista 64.

Audacity is a really simple sound program and it likes running on really simple computers. If updated drivers and tuning doesn't work, your only option is Audacity 1.3.

Well, the new one seemed to install fine, guess I'll just stick with that one. I don't use it for anything really heavy so a beta version is fine. No crashes so far.

<<<so a beta version is fine.>>>
We wish they would stop calling it Unstable Beta software. There is no unconditionally stable 1.2 for the newer Macs. Audacity 1.3 is the current operating version.
