Hi,
I've removed all the clicks from this vinyl, but there's one that I can't seem to find. I can hear it, but can't find it.
I have posted it on my website <http://www.shinnen.ca/Delta.wav>
I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks,
...... john

Re: can't seem to find click
How about we tell you how to find it?
There is one Audacity preference that drives me nuts and that's Auto Scroll with Playback, or whatever it's called on your version. On some it's Update Display While Playing. What that change does for you is keep one edit point on your screen wherever the cursor is. That may seem counterproductive until you need to search for something...like one click.
Play the piece and you should be able to figure out which general area of the song the click is in. Drag-Select a chunk of the song around the click and zoom in Control-E. Do it again. Play what you have and drag-select around the click. Zoom in.
Keep going until you see a spike sticking up above everything else. It may not be that obvious, but it will probably be a waveform that doesn't look like everything else. If it's still hidden, select a tiny portion where you think the click is and Edit > Silence. See if the click vanished along with the show. Then Edit > UNDO.
Audacity and most other audio editors will not scrub like video editors will. That will get you into the offending segment in nothing flat.
Oh, well.
Control-F to zoom out full.

Re: can't seem to find click
This is a fun one. I don't think you have one point of damage. I think you have distributed damage over several cycles of music. The damage in this clip is between .52 and .53 seconds. I did it by setting stop points further and further along while I played the whole first segment. I stopped when I got two distinct clicks at the end (my stop point) instead of one.
I think the best you can do with this one is cover it up. Some version of ... duplicate the song on a second timeline, slide the second one over about .015 seconds and use the envelope tool to rapidly fade the real one out and the delayed one in between .52 and .53. The problem is in the middle of a sustained note and I bet you get away with it.

Switching to the "spectrum view" (click on the track name for a drop down menu) can help show clicks - they will tend to produce red vertical lines.

Thanks Koz/Steve,
Koz..... Thanks for your suggestions, but I'm not familiar enough with audacity to understand what your saying. However I was able to get rid of the problem by washing the record.
Steve..... I did try the sprectrum thing. You mentioned this once before, and I have found it very helpful. It helped with the other clicks but wouldn't pick out this one. I think Koz is right the distortion is not just a single event. However...... Washing got rid of it..... so.... problem solved.
