Hi, I am having a whole lot of trouble with audacity. I must have downloaded the wrong one because I am getting "the message". On top of that after I save a file when I try to play it on anything it has a weird message in it saying AVS de adama....or something like that. really freaky. Could somebody please bless me with your knowledge.
Thanks a whole bunch in advance to the Audacity Gurus.
Rosemary

While the free Audacity is downloading in the background, they try to trick you into buying a different sound editor. We get a lot of complaints about problems with paid licenses.
<<<AVS de adama....or something like that.>>>
Audacity is free and doesn't give you messages unless there is something broken somewhere, and sometimes not even then. Sit on the purchase screen for a while and see if the "real" Audacity doesn't arrive on its own.
You can get rid of whatever you have now.

Or you may be blocking popups - in which case you should see a message in the message area near the top og the browser window asking if you want to allow the download.

Yep, you've downloaded the wrong program.
Sourceforge who provide the hosting for Audacity are supported by adverts. You have inadvertently downloaded one of the advertised products instead of Audacity.
See the link in waxcylinders post.
