Lost drop down menu options
Hi,
I'm using 1.3.5, and for some reason I have lost most of my drop down menu otions. The only one left is 'microphone'. I used to have 'line in', 'stereo mix', 'auxillary', 'phone line', etc. Can anyone straighten me out here?
Thanks,
...... john

Re: Lost drop down menu options
Have you made any changes to Audacity Preferences?

Re: Lost drop down menu options
Hi Steve,
No, I haven't. But I put a hard drive in as a slave to look at what was on it, and it somehow screwed up some of my mp3s, and caused other problems, so it may have done some damage to Audacity. I uninstalled and reinstalled Audacity, but it didn't make any difference.

Re: Lost drop down menu options
Hi Steve,
I uninstalled Audacity again, deleted all it's files in my system, and all the references to it in the registry, then reinstalled, and voila! I have all the items back in my drop down menu. Thanks for your help.

I would suggest doing a FULL virus scan, just in case.shinnen wrote:But I put a hard drive in as a slave to look at what was on it, and it somehow screwed up some of my mp3s, and caused other problems,
A good reliable anti-virus scanner is "Avast" (there is a full featured free version for personal use).
Glad you've got it working.

Thanks Steve,
Thanks for replying.
I was intending to do just that. I have Malbytes and ASquared. Do you think they will do what Avast can do?

Re: Lost drop down menu options
I've not used either of those, but if you have them installed then it's probably easiest to try them.
I like Avast because it has a good detection rate, few false positives, and is also pretty good at removing viruses (and it's free - at least, free for personal home use).

Re: Lost drop down menu options
Hi Steve,
I ran the two apps I was telling you about. Malwarebytes didn't find anything. ASquared found about 6 spy cookies..... nothing really. But I think I know what the problem is. Lately I've been getting startup warnings about one of my voltages being low. I've changed the PSU and hope that this will solve the problem. In any event, Audacity is running tickety boo ...... beautiful program that. Thanks again for your help.

P.S. I installed Avast, but it insisted on starting with windows, which I DON'T want. Is there a way or running it, only when one wants to?

Re: Lost drop down menu options
It is possible to set up Avast as an "on demand" scanner only, but I don't remember off hand how to do it. It may be a set-up option, in which case you will need to run the installer again and select to not install "resident protection".shinnen wrote:P.S.
