Can't access drop down menu to sellect MICROPHONE

Let me say on the outset that I'm fairly new to Audacity, but have used it successfully a few times...until a few minutes ago. :shock:

I purchased the Snowflake portable USB mic. Plugged it in for the first time 30 minutes ago, brought my Audacity page up, recorded--it sounded great!! Then when I tried again, nothing. Yes, my computer recognizes it.

I went to wiki for a step-by-step on how to use it, thinking I must have changed something inadvertently. The first step was to use the drop down menu to select MICROPHONE. Yet I noticed that my drop down menu doesn't work. It's gray in the box and nothing drops down.

Help. I'm stymied as to what's wrong and why I can't suddenly use it. grrrrrrr :?

Have you tried opening preferences, and selecting the microphone under the "Recording" section of the "Audio I/O" tab? For me (though I'm on a Mac), the drop-down menu on the main screen usually doesn't work, but the menu in Preferences does. --Allen
