Audacity Forum

I am only new at this game. I did manage to download Audacity onto my PC (Windows XP), and use it in a basic fashion. However, I am having difficulty downloading to my lap-top. It seemed to download OK, but when I press the record button, the following message comes up - 'Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate'. This means nothing to me - what must I do to sort the problem out? I did uninstall and re-install, but it made no difference.

I should be grateful for any assistance.

Just a further thought - the laptop works on Vista Home Premium.
