missing file

So, I recorded a song, and save it as .au and .wav. When I look at the directory using Windows Explorer, I don't see the directory or the .wav file, but when I open it with Audacity, it's there. I want to record it and export it to publish, and can't. Is this a feature of the free version or am I doing somethign wrong? Thanks in advance.

There is only the free version and I think you're suffering from Microsoft Windows.

My Computer > View > Folder Options > turn off all the file hiding and extension masking.

It's not surprising that you can't find all the parts of the Audacity Project, but it was a little surprising that you Exported As WAV and couldn't find that. Where did you put it? Music folder? Does a search turn up the WAV file?

Remember Audacity will not Save a WAV file. You have to Export to get one.

OK, at the risk of being a dolt, what is "my computer?" same as "computer?" I am using vista, if that makes a difference. I didn't see where to get to "folder properties." I would be most grateful if someone could help me connect the dots. Thanks in advance to all.

Upgrading to Audacity 1.3.7 will help with a lot of issues on Vista.
When you Export, export the wav file to your "My Documents" or "My Music" locations.

My Documents = C:UsersusernameDocuments
My Music = C:UsersusernameMusic
