HI...

I made some mp3's from some WAV files that were created from mini-discs.

LP vinyl > sony mini-disc > recorded as WAV with the basic microsoft recorder > noise reduction and normalization > mp3.

Pretty good but,,,on my portable player, the resulting vocals sound too soft for me and I want to give them some punch. I thought maybe some treble and less bass, but there are no such effects on the menu.

How can I make the vocals crisper? thx

Remember the MP3 step creates damage and can contribute to the muffled audio if you're not careful. Also, you should edit the WAV or Project, not the MP3. Editing an MP3 creates multiple layers of damage.

I'm at the wrong computer for this, but I think Audacity 1.3 has those controls. You can install 1.2 and 1.3 as long as you only use one at a time. 1.3 projects will not open up in 1.2.

Use the "Equalizer" effect - bass is to the left, treble to the right, and lots of steps in between.

(this is in addition to Koz's comments)
