Precision Pasting

Post by Narayan » Tue May 19, 2009 9:56 pm

Hi Folks,

How do you paste with precision. I have tried to cut and paste within the same track but the program does not paste where I point and often moves the part back to it's original location.... Sorry for the simplicity of my questions. What do I need to do?

Thanks

You might be able to use labels for this. Once you find the absolutely perfect cut point, park a label there (Apple/Control-B). The label will become sticky or magnetic when you're trying to insert a segment or clip. Inexporably drawing you into the perfect edit.

I'm not sure the "stickiness" of labels is a feature of 1.2 (I just tested on my old copy of 1.2 that I keep for testing and I couldn't make it work there). It certainly works in 1.3.

Zooming in helps you to better find a perfect edit point ...

Ok thanks guys/

I managed to create a label track and labels however the stickiness did not work. Also, when I zoom in and paste the part, it is still being magnetized to it's original location....

Download 1.3.7 Beta version and have a try with that: http://audacityteam.org/download/. You can have a 1.2 and a 1.3 version on your computer at the same time- just don't run them both at the same time. And note that 1.2 projects can be opened in 1.3 this is not true the other way around.

1.3.7 is pretty mature and stable now - I use it all the time.

Does 1.3.7 allow you to record while listening to the other tracks at the same time?
