So I have audacity recording line-in from a mixer. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I never change any of the settings and the output from the mixer is always going to the same port.
Do you guys know of a setting that needs to be checked/unchecked for line-in to work?

Anyone? I've tried everything in the sound settings, it just doesn't want to work.

And the mixer is.....?
Does it make any difference which gets turned on first, the mixer or the computer?
Has it ever worked reliably? This is the kind of problem that can result from a bad or ratty USB connection...Or a dead or dying mixer.

I have a Behringer UB2004 mixing desk connected to a Behringer UCA 202 with a pair of leads from the "Main" out of the desk to the inputs of the UCA 202.
The UCA 202 is connected to my Acer Aspire 5735 laptop via the USB output of the UCA 202 into the middle USB socket on the laptop.
The output from the UCA 202 is connected to the line input of my amplifier which powers a pair of Tannoy Reveal passive monitors.
I have the recording and playback devices set in Audacity Preferences to the USB sound card.
It works.
What's your set-up?
