Okay I've been looking through similar problems and FAQs to fix my problem, but it does not work.
My Windows XP computer Audacity works, but since I got a new HP computer, Windows Vista, it is not working.
I want it to be able to record music from online music streaming, but apparantley, its not working. My Harmon Sound Speakers uses a USB cord instead of those other "mic coords." But if it makes a difference, I also got the speakers with a green coord as speakers, but it still does not work. Can you help me please?
Help Pls. Audacity won't record.

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: Help Pls. Audacity won't record.
That article didn't solve the problem. D:
I don't know why it won't work on vista.
I just need it to record sounds that is coming out of the pc. No mic needed. In XP, it worked perfectly fine. Any suggestions to solve this problem please?

Because Microsoft changed the sound services around to be more Mac-like. You can't easily do this on a Mac, either, for a lot of the same reasons. The recursive sound pathways get people into trouble all the time. Most of the Audacity complaints on the Windows forums have to do with running Windows Sound, not Audacity. All those problems vanished in Vista.
One good way out of jail for Windows people is Total Recorder.

I think they said their latest version works very well in Vista. I've had a license for Total Recorder for years. Excellent way to do. There's WireTap for the Macs.
You're getting an idea why people are still buying and installing Windows XP. Microsoft is two operating systems past that.
