I've just downloaded Audacity 1.2.6 on a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop with Windows Vista OS, but cannot get Audacity to work. It won't record and I don't see any recording monitor led lights either. This laptop does not have a built in mic, so I am using the mic from a logitec webcam.
Any suggestions?

Audacity version 1.3.7 is generally thought to work better on Vista than the old 1.2 version.
However, there are some special issues for running Audacity on Vista, so read this section of the Audacity wiki before you attempt to install 1.3. http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... s_Vista_OS
When you have it installed, check that your recording and playback devices are set correctly (Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O).
