Clicks

Where is the feedback on Clicks? How long does it take? Maybe I am looking in the wrong place. An acknowledgement would be welcome. On Tuesday, March 03, 2009, I posted the following:
I have recorded music experimentally from cassettes (analog) to my computer using Audacity 1.2.6 and made screen copies of disputable screens. Each recording shows 2 tracks which show on the print-out as an upper and lower track. The upper track shows spikes which are heard as annoying clicks. These spikes are NOT depicted on the lower track. ( I am unable to tell if this is the right or left stereo track.) The frequency of these spiles is 4.7/sec. Following the instructions provided I selected All, highlighted the tracks (probably the same), then went to Effects --> Click Removal. In the Click and Pop Removal window I selected the lowest Threshold and a high Max Spike. The next windows was "Click Removal" which went through its paces. Nevertheless, despite these efforts, the clicks are still visible and annoyingly audible. Any suggestions are welcome.([email protected])

There are no paid staff here. Audacity is open source free software, created and supported by people that are interested in doing so.

From your description I have no idea where these clicks are coming from - are they present on the cassette recording? If you swap over the left and right connectors to the cassette player do the clicks appear in the other channel?

What sort of computer / operating system / sound card are you using?
Are you able to record from other sound sources?

What settings do you have in Audacity? Sample rate? Bit depth?

If you have your speakers connected correctly, the upper channel of a stereo track is the left channel.
