Recording Cuts Out
Recording Cuts Out
I am using a line out from a cassette Recorder to a line into the computer. While recording I have a strong signal and all is great. All of a sudden the recording level fat lines and nothing records any more. There is still sound coming in line in but nothing records. sometimes i get a signal for 15 min. other times it cut out after 3 min. Any help would be helpful.

Re: Recording Cuts Out
That can happen when Audacity runs out of room to put the capture files. How full are your hard drives? It can also happen when the system can't keep up with the data. How powerful is the machine? If you're on a PC, when was the last time you defragmented your hard drive? If you're on a Mac, don't worry about it.
You can click on the recording meters in Audacity *before* you press record to set your levels and make sure everything is OK. Do that, but don't press record. Does the system still fail after 15 minutes? Do you have your machine set to go to sleep if it doesn't see any keyboard activity?
Sudden Unexplained Insanity can also be caused by viruses. When as the last time you scanned your PC? If you're on a Mac, don't worry about it.
