To be consistent, it should remain as P3 according to the guidelines (because fewer users are affected) . It has less weight than if it was something affecting Windows, or something affecting general usability.
I understand JACK did not work at all with 1.3.5, is that right? Can someone find out what is the position with 1.3.6, and post here? I have to say unless someone presents us with a patch, this probably isn't going to progress fast because there is only really one active Linux developer (Richard Ash) at the moment, and he has little time due to his "real" job. It needs someone on Linux to push this, though I could try and start a dialogue going with PortAudio, JACK and Linux developer interests like

Steve, when people have to shut down sound servers before using Audacity, it's said that setting the conflicting application to use the ALSA default device (as well as Audacity) may let Audacity share the device via dmix. Can JACK be configured like that to solve the ("have to shut JACK first") problem?
