I've just started using Audicity. I imported a song into audicity and am interested in splitting the lyrics from the music. Is that possible? If so then can someone assist, pls?
P.s. Am new at it...so go easy on the software "terms"
Thnx

Download the Center Pan Remover plugin from the Audacity web site:

There is only one way to remove a vocal and that depends on a bunch of things being right. The original track must be stereo, the vocal must be dead center in the stereo field and have no stereo special effects added. Anything else in mono and in the middle of the stereo field will go, too, like drums.
I seem to remember you end up with a mono track, not stereo.
That's it. If you want to get fancier than that you need to re-record the performance (assuming it was you in the first place) or get someone to give you the original studio tapes and remix it yourself.
There is no "voice filter." Unfortunately, human voices have the same pitch and character as a lot of musical instruments, so you filter out the voice and all the violins, oboes, strumpets, etc, go, too.
