HELP: after crash, how can I recover data?
Hi,
I am working under an Intel Macbook and Audacity 1.2.
After less than 2 hours of a recording Audacity crashed, (it is still crashed but I can work with Finder and terminal). I have seen that I have more than 2000 ".au" files in my temporal folder,
can I recover all the data from this 2000 files?
is there any way to paste them?
thanks in advance!!
Enrique

It's tricky, and it might not work, but this wiki page has all the info we've got on this:
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... shRecovery
Note that Crash Recovery in 1.3.3 is much much better than 1.2.6.

Thanks,
that help sounds a little confusing, and more for Mac, but ok, let's try
i am thinking in running the recovery script under Linux, can I do that? Is there any incompatibility between .au files in Mac and Linux?
thanks again

The projects are 100% cross-platform compatible.
I occasionally work on 1 project in both Windows and Linux and switch between the two with no problems.

Note that nobody said, "The last time I had an Audacity Project crash, this is how I got my show back."
That's because there is nobody who can say that.

So I am the only one ????
Re: HELP: after crash, how can I recover data?
No you're not the only one - but it depends on what the problem was in the first place and how much of the project remains. Often a trashed project is unrecoverable, but sometimes you can be lucky.jan.kolar wrote:I dit say !

Jan was actually more than lucky - he was thoughful and skilful in his approach - and posted his technique for the benefit of others in another thread - see: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic ... 863#p22863
