Can't use "z" in labels; can use "Z" ?!

I'm using the stable release (not the beta) of Audacity under Vista Ultimate SP1 and (WOW!) finally getting the hang of it.

Except, when I try to type a lowercase "z" in a label, nothing appears. No space, no null, nothing. If I type a shift+Z (uppercase) it is typed into the label just fine!

Nothing wrong with the keyboard, it is able to make lowercase zzzz's all over the place.

Is this a special gremlin, os something anyone else has met before?

Yes I remember that reported. And trying with my 1.2.6: yes it does exactly what you say.
I would call it a bug but gremlin is very nice, too.
(Thanks for introducing me to the automagical disneyland on the other topis.)

It's a "feature" - it's because the z is being usded by Audacity as a keyboard shortcut.

I don't think this behaviour carries forward to the 1.3.x Beta versions.

I just used to workaround it in 1.2 by using the uppercase Z in the labels and then editing the filenames and tags of the exported files.

A feature? How nice. The author(s) have done a marvelous job and should I ever meet Saint Peter I'll put in a good word for them, but surely they might have considered JAZZ might be a relevant track title, and it might need to be in lower case?

Among the others I have hit in recent days.<G>
