multitrack recording

Post by nuevocello » Fri Feb 29, 2008 12:57 am

I have read the manual and it says you can do multitrack recording with audacity. True? We do not have an interface, just 2 mics and a piano line input, for left and right channels through a 8 channel mixer and then through left and right channels on the
computer. I do not want to mess with any more gear. Can I record one instrument then save it, and then record another performer , in this case a keyboard, records into the mix while listening to the first track? I do not need any other tracks, just two or at most three. What cables do I need, splitter? Thanks

Yes. Simply record one track, then press "stop". Click the "rewind" button and start recording again - a new track is created automatically.
