normalize question
normalize question
Is there a way to change the default of the normalize effect? Let's say I wanted to have it normalize to -4db every time instead of -3db as it does now, can I change that setting somewhere?
Re: normalize question
Not in Audacity 1.2.x. Audacity 1.3.4 allows you to change this value (though it doesn't store it between sessions).
Re: normalize question
hmmm that's a beta version. I've been so happy with 1.2.6
I'm worried about moving into beta territory. will I run into problems I never had before? Is it stable?

Almost certainly.

Most of the time, but nothing like 1.2.x. Shortly, a stable 1.4.x will be issued. You understand you can run both 1.3 and 1.2 on the same machine, right?

Re: normalize question
To be honest, I've had some recent issues with 1.2.6 crashing that I haven't seen on 1.3.4. I'm not sure why.
But yes, 1.2.6 is called "stable" for a reason. You'll also see a number of interface differences between the two, it's not a bad idea to at least poke around with 1.3.4 so you won't be confused when they release 1.4.0 (aka the next 'Stable').
