playback speed
My question will show how new I am at this. I have edited a few files before with no problem, but today I can't seem to get past the playback speed. My problem is when I open an audio file, and hit the play button to find where I want to edit, the entire two hour audio plays in less than two seconds. Needless to say, it sounds like a million screaming mice! How do I adjust the speed? Thanks for any advice!

You are probably trying to open up a music file of a type that Audacity doesn't understand. Mystery Compressions always play like they're on fire.
You need to convert the file to something Audacity understands with one of the fine free Windows conversion programs out there. If you're on a Mac, QuickTime Pro and the free MPEG Streamclip are your friends.
