Audacity Mic problems

I've been using Audacity for a while now and have never had any problems but,for some reason this morning when I went to record with Audacity it's not picking up the sound from my microphone (I have my guitar amp mic'd) or it is picking it up but just inaudably low.Any help or advice would be appreciated.Thanks!

Cable fallen out of computer? Different input on your sound card selected to the one you are actually using? Mic input muted when using some other audio program?
