Can't continue editing after I have done one edit

Post by jadmaldonado » Wed Dec 09, 2009 3:52 am

I am extremely frusterated. I will make one edit, specifically cutting, and then I try to fine tune it but trying to cutting and I Can't! Iam new to Audacity but have used professional sound editing software before. I literally have to close and save the project (notice I did not say save THEN close) and try again. I followed the tutorials and followed instructions (use the Edit>Cut option but then when I try to do it again, the Edit buttons are not available to me anymore.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you are using version 1.2.x, you may have inadvertently turned Snap To on. Click on the Edit Menu then Snap-To.. and select Snap Off. There's no checkmark to tell you which is selected.

In that case look at the bottom of the project window for the "Snap To" checkbox and make sure it is not checked. When people can't fine tune a selection it usually means they have this option checked.
