Newbie - How to Get to Specific Time in Track

Post by rfsw2at » Sat Nov 24, 2007 12:44 am

I'm totally new to this and can't seem to find direction on how to move to a specific time in a track. I can move through the track with the cursor but it takes too long to find a spot in a long track. Can anyone help?

That's because I don't believe there is one. You can't type 1:23:00 [Enter} and have it move immediately to one minute and twenty-three seconds. I think the best you can do is zoom out as far as you can and use the cursor time box in the lower bar. It doesn't update in real time, by the way, so you have to stop and let it settle each time. When you get close, zoom back in.

Audacity is at its base a simple editor.

Audacity 1.2.x won't allow this, but Audacity 1.3.x does.

Using 1.3.x all you have to do is type the time you want into the selection boxes at the bottom of the main screen.

Hey Andy, many thanks for that tip - I thought those were just display boxes - I never realized you could reposition the cursor by entring data.
