Hi!
I have exactly the same problem as the guy in this topic:

I've tried all the tips and still no sound!
And I've lost the green VU-meters. I probably shut them down accidentally...

Anybody got a solution?

The meters are a big deal.

View > ToolBars > Meter Toolbar.

Play a sound clip and make sure the green bouncing lights meters work. You can download this known, good, working, short sound clip.

You got all that so far? It doesn't matter if you can't hear it yet.

Thanks for a quick answer. The problem is, after days of agony, resolved...
I could hear all other sounds, I have no other output choices in Audacity but! I have two speaker jacks in my soundcard. As a longshot (because all else worked) I switched the jacks and there you are: SOUND! Don't ask me why this can be, I don't understand, but it works! As well as the headphone jack.
