Working or syncing to picture using Audacity

Hello All,

I wonder if you any of you can help me. Is it possible to work to picture using Audacity. For example, I have a 30 tv commercial and need to spot sound effects, add a voice-over and music and finally mix. I cannot, though, see how Audacity can help me on this with regard to the picture question. So, if anyone knows whether this is possible, I would so much appreciate a response. Many thanks.

No, Audacity is not able to do that, though it exists as a "Feature Request" for future versions. Would you like your vote adding to the list?

It certainly wouldn't be a whole bunch of fun, but in a pinch you might be able to work by the numbers. Make a written list of events and time codes in your video using your video editing system, then work in Audacity putting things where they should be by the numbers.

Alternately, your video editing software (Avid, FCP, etc?) should have at least some audio functionality, cuts and dissolves, perhaps? Could you build pieces in Audacity, and assemble them in the other program?

Avid, FCP, etc has very nice audio functionality -- at least ours do -- but I'm willing to bet the poster doesn't have any of those things.
