At last I have a legitimate reason to drink on the job . . . what do you recommend I use as a lens cleaner?

Seriously, thanks for the followup information.

Eastman Kodak lens cleaner. But I wouldn't drink too much of that. That may greatly increase your awareness of the nearest men's room.

Hey Koz, great advice about the cleaning of the male pins.

I was struggling today trying to work out why when recording from my TT that I was getting a significantly weaker signal on the R channel. Fiddled with the cartridge, re-seated the contacts on the pins, made sure the cartridge was aligned properly and that the stylus was clean - all to no avail (half an hour's work).

So then I swap over the L&R phono plugs from TT to amp - problem half goes away - THEN I remember your cleaning advice.

Some neat alcohol and a couple of paper towels - two minutes work - and hey presto, all is hunky dory.

So good advice for us all - keep your contacts clean ......

<<<keep your contacts clean ......>>>

And don't touch them, either. The natural oils on your skin are slightly acidic and will corrode electrical contacts.
