recording album tracks onto a hard drive
recording album tracks onto a hard drive
I'm doing something wrong. I record an album track and then click "convert to wav". After I've recorded and converted several album tracks I try to listen to them before I record them onto a CD. But they all play back simultaneously. What am I doing wrong? Also, does Audacity offer any voice to voice customer service? thanks.

Re: recording album tracks onto a hard drive
The easiest way to transcribe an LP is to record the whole LP as a single project in one go. Press Pause (not Stop) when side 1 has finished and the press Pause again to resume recording after turning the record over.
Then you need to identify the track breaks and create labels at each track break, including one right at the beginning. Use the Ctrl-B shortcut to create a label at any cursor position. BtW when I plan to export WAVs I start each track label with 01 ..., 02.... etc. to make it easier to get them in the right order for burning to CD.
Then use Audacity's Export Multiple command to export a set a WAVs, MP3s or whatever.
And no, there is no voice-to-voice or face-to-face customer service - it's a zero-cost product and there's not a lot of margin in there to fund a customer help desk. However you will find that if you use this forum you will learn a lot from it - and you will nearly always get your questions answered. The developers sometimes visit these boards - so sometimetimes you get the benefit of their insight. You will find that this is generally a friendly place - one of the saner corners of cyberspace.
I would also recommend that you read the wiki and the tutorials available from the Audacity site http://audacityteam.org/help/ - you can learn a lot from these.
