a minor irritation

Hi
I am new to the forum, and in case this has not been reported before, I will share a curious problem I have with my new installtation of Audacity.
I purchased a new Diamond 5.1 surround sound card, and it came with a copy of Audacity 1.2.3
After the usual fumbling and trial and error, I got Audacity , Windows and the sound card to all agree about "line in " and so forth, and it worked for one trial recording. However, Audacity would not work each time I re-started it, until I go thru the following routine.
1- I open up the Diamond Sound card icon, which gives a window with about five options, such as "adjust mixer", "adjust surround sound speakers" and so on. The last option it shows is called "information."
2- I then click on this tab called "information." This immediately activates the record feature on Audacity. Notice, I don't actually change anything, or click on a certain box . I just open the window called "Information", and suddenly, Audacity starts working.
Maybe this is Diamond's way of making me look at their name each time I use the free copy of Audacity they bundled with the card.
But does anyone know of a way to avoid this irritation each time I try to use Audacity?
