I'm using Audacity for language study. I'll take a podcast and make a transcript by listening to short sections (~ 5 seconds) over and over.
All the clicking, selecting, etc. ends up taking a lot of time.
I wonder if there's a more automatic way to:
(1) break up the file into short segments (say a few seconds long and punctuated by short silences)
(2) loop-play each section (this I have down)
(3) move to the next section by hitting a key
Is there some existing command to do this? Some code?
If I need to set this up myself: what would I need to know in order to do it?

Was it an unstable posting?

You can easily produce multiple short files, but it's not automatic. You can press Control-B at the beginning of each segment you want as a separate file and then Export Multiple.
Alternately, you can put, say, a half-second of silence at the end of the show, select and copy it, and then Control-V paste it into the show where you want there to be a silent gap.
<<<(3) move to the next section by hitting a key>>>
I don't know any good way to do that. Cursor control inside Audacity won't win any awards.

I deleted the incorrect post.
I think you can do it, too with the little [X] to the right of the post.
