I recorded a few songs on guitar today and saved them. when i went to open them again later, the song was split into several 6 second files. i had to open them up seperately and they all opened in sperate windows. how do i open the song in one track like it was when i saved it?

You saved an Audacity Project, not a sound file. To force Audacity to make a sound file of your show, File > Export As WAV.
If you didn't move things around too much, you should be able to open up the your original project. Launch Audacity. File > Open > MyGuitarSolo2.aup. The aup file will gather all the pieces together and open a complete song for you.
If you moved, deleted, or renamed anything, you're dead unless you can move it all back.

I've got the same problem I think. I made a recording and Audacity saved it to a bunch of au files. 1,049 kb in size. It didn't save a project file anywhere that I'm aware of.. Is there any way to put them together in the same file?
Thanks.

<<<It didn't save a project file anywhere that I'm aware of.>>>
If you clicked "Save" anywhere in the process, then Audacity created a Project. Audacity will not Save a sound file. To get a stand-alone, normal sound file that you can do stuff with, you have to Export One. File > Export As WAV.
Somewhere on your machine(s) is going to appear an AUP file with the same name as your current show. Launch Audacity and open up that file. It will manage all the others and put your show back together. If you can't find it, or it's damaged, you may not have a show any more.
It's a different story if your machine crashed. Then you can try to use the Crash Recovery tools.
