Hello,
I came across Audacity and wondered if this program can help me. I renewed my wedding vows on the beach and there is a lot of noise in the background. You can hear the waves and birds. Does anyone know if it is possible to take out that background noise in order to hear our voices? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks to everyone.

Re: Eliminating background noise on video
Normally, yes, but you don't have noise. You have co-stars in the performance. Noise reduction as a rule works on noise that doesn't change. Air conditioning rumble, microphone hiss. It works by comparing a short segment of noise-only with noise plus performance. It subtracts the two and you're left with the performance by itself.
The noise has to have not changed between the noise sampling and the noisy performance. Gulls come and go as do the waves. They are performers, not noise, and you can't separate them.
Capturing good sound at the beach is not easy.
