Naming Files When Exporting As WAVs

Post by ngc1967 » Sat Oct 20, 2007 12:22 am

Is there a way to name the WAV files when doing 'Export Multiple' in the format of 'Track Number - Artist - Track'

I have already split the tracks of a recording and labelled them with the 'Album Track Name' but when I export them all I get is the track name and not the Track Number or Artist. Do I have to add this information when I label the actual track itself?

Yup, AFAIK that's the only way to do it - WAVs have no tags kike MP3s do.

Thanks WC.

Shame about that but I suppose its not too much effort to add in 01, 02, 03 etc before each track title.

Incidentally I was playing around with Audacity 1.3.3 and I tried to 'Export Multiple' as FLAC. It asked me to enter the ID3v2 tagging information for the Artist and Album Name as if I was exporting it as MP3. I was able to export the tracks as FLAC but I still only got the 'Track Name' in the filename (no track number) although it had associated the Artist, Album and Track Number in the ID tagging - you just couldn't see it.

The problem with this was that when it was saved in a directory on my hard drive the files were sorted out alphabetically and not in the same order that they appeared on the album.
