Zoom x2 Only Works Once

It used to be that one could repetitively Zoom (the vertical view), so that Zoom x2 done twice, caused a 4x Zoom. This is no longer the case; 2x Zoom is the maximum.
I, for one, find this to be rather limiting.

Use the Zoom In and Zoom Outtcommands in the Vertical Scale rather than the Zoom x2

Where it says abot Zoom x2:

Zoom x 2 - zooms in vertically to twice normal zoom level

So that’s twice “normal zoom level” (default zoom level) - not twice current zoom level
