wv files come out empty

OS: Windows 10 ver 1903
Audacity: ver 2.3.3

I have the ffmpeg plug in so Audacity should be able to read .wv files however, when I import them in the resulting file is empty. I tried this with multiple files with same result.
As a further test I imported the files in question into VLC and I can see the album cover however, no sound comes out. Something is wrong somewhere.
I tried different .wv files from another folder and the results are the same.
Can anyone help/advise?
Thank you
P.S. I’ve attached a screen shot to show you what I see.

That’s a WavPack file? I guess you didn’t make this file yourself? Maybe it’s no good?

Try dragging it into MediaInfoOnline. That should tell you the “actual” format, the playing time, the bitrate, etc. That may give you some “clues”.

I’ve never actually used WavPack, but I just made one and I was able to re-import it and it also played fine in VLC.

Thanks DVDDoug. NO, everything seems fine with the files

Well… If you can find something to play it you can record it as it plays to get a new copy. But, if nothing will play it or open it I think you’re out-of-luck.

You could try converting it to WAV with TAudioConverter or some other converter but I’m guessing the file is just bad and nothing is going to work.

You could try the official wavpack program and see if that can decode the files: http://www.wavpack.com/downloads.html
