I believe if you install Audacity with the GUI, it will ask you if you’re really sure you want to install Audacity.
The Terminal Window work-around is to launch Audacity so it will recognize recording devices.
I need to go back and check that again.
Also, I think the Party Line is we don’t support Catalina yet, workaround or not.
Koz
“No such file or directory.”
Hope Audacity corrects this Catalina issue pronto.
FYI Using Audacity 2.3.2.
That indicates that either you installed Audacity in a non-standard location (you would know if you did), or you typed the command incorrectly. Try using copy and paste to ensure that you enter the command correctly:
open /Applications/Audacity.app/Contents/MacOS/Audacity
OK, I got to the point where Audacity wants to open. Do I need to do anything else?
UPDATE: It opened and it is recording(through Soundflowergarden), but I cannot hear anything. So we’re part of the way there.
Do you mean “while you are recording”, or “when playing back after recording”?
I was unable to hear anything WHILE I was recording, but I then hit something that let the sound come through. I just wish Apple would make it easier to record stuff.
I’ve tried the Terminal workaround but hear nothing nor see any meter indication of input (from AV202-B USB adaptor) within Audacity 2.3.3 where I have selected the USB device ad input and internal speakers as output. I can hear the input from the USB adaptor if I use QuickTime so I know the USB ip is ok.
Any suggestions gratefully received!
I think at this point we just have to wait for the next version that is Catalina-friendly.
