Won't record using win7 and new Dell laptop

Hello all,
I have used audacity for years on another computer running XP. It died, so now I have a Dell Inspiron 5050, win7home and audacity 2.0.3. I cannot find any settings that will set it to record streaming internet. I have other video/audio recording programs that work find and needed no customization but I prefer audacity. Any input from you all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you Gale, I’ve changed all those settings many times. The best I can get is it records both what is streaming and all the microphone input. Even with it disabled. My next choice is to plug something into the mic jack that isn’t a microphone. I THINK that would either decrease the volume or quality. Any other ideas? I wanted to check with all you experts before I try that. Thank you, I really appreciate everybody’s help.

If the microphone is active when you have “disabled” it, then either you have not disabled it properly or your sound card drivers are faulty.
How are you disabling the microphone?
