I’m brand new to getting a playlist I can to the studio when I can be there. I am not tech savvy at all. I’ve always used Windows Media Player to make the playlists and burn them to a CD. How can I get a playlist from WMP to Audacity? I know I have to number each song just right. The first time I tried, all the songs were in alphabetical order and the intros were all at the bottom of the list.
As far as I know, Audacity does not do playlists. It is mainly for recording music, not for playing it.
Depending on what computer system you have (Mac, Linux, Windows), there are various possibilities. For Mac, Apple’s music.app; for Linux, RythmBox; for Windows, iTunes. But there are for sure more available for each system.
You want the “playlist” for burning a CD, right?
You don’t need Audacity if you already have the song files.
If you want to burn a CD, I can give you some help, but I want to clarify what you’re doing first.
I’m trying to move songs to Audacity so that they can be played on our radio show when we can’t be live in the studio.
This is not what Audacity was made for.
You can play a playlist using the programs I mentioned before. They are all free. Ifyour computer (you did even now not tell what operating system it uses) can deliver sound via Bluetooth, or AirPlay, and your radio can “receive” these techniques, you should do this.
In iTunes (Windows) or Music.app (Apple) you can select “random”, then the songs within that playlist are played randomly. The same should apply to Rhythmbox (Linux).
You can also add metadata information to the songs (Artist, Album, Title number, Disc number, etc.) using any of these applications. You can do this also when exporting the songs from Audacity. This way, you can produce “albums”, like on a CD.
Here is an example of such an album. You see that the songs are not played in alphabetical order.
