Windows Media used to pop up when I loaded the disc, ready for me to burn, & doesnt anymore.
I’ve never used WMP to burn a disc…
I assume you’re trying to make an audio CD? You can optionally burn WAV or MP3 “data files” onto a disc and you can play the files on a computer but the disc won’t play on a regular CD player.

Can you play the files in Windows Media Player? What format are your files? Most burning applications can convert MP3 or other formats to audio CD but try exporting as WAV at 44.100Hz, 16-bit stereo. That’s the same underlying format used on audio CDs except Audio CDs are “computer files” in a WAV “package”.

Have you tried a different blank disc? I’ve had some bad blanks.

I use ImgBurn with a Cue Sheet to make sure all of the tracks are in the right order, etc. I start with a known-good cue sheet and then edit it with Windows Notepad. But, ImgBurn can also build a cue sheet
