windows 8 audacity sound input problem

Hi,
There is aproblem I have windows 8 and I have envivo cassette converter 50815 but when I record the audio only comes through one speaker input. I want to record in stereo and I don’t just want to have two mono tracks. Can anyone please help?

Thanks

Look in the Windows Sound Control Panel and check that the device is set to record as stereo.
Also, Audacity must be set to record “2 channels (stereo)” in the device toolbar.

which device do I try to make stereo?

In Windows Sound, you have to make stereo for the USB Audio CODEC (or similar name) for the cassette player.

See Audacity Manual.

This is the best link to give in answer to a question like this.

Yeah but that didn’t solve it. What finally did it was making that particular line-in the default line whilst the usb audacity input is plugged in. This was all very annoying, why didn’t my pc recognize the audacity as an input? I have to manually adjust every single time but at least I’ve finally got stereo so thanks.

After making a change in Windows Sound you should restart Audacity.

Make sure that you are selecting the USB Audio CODEC for recording device in Audacity’s Device Toolbar. If you choose “Microsoft Sound Mapper - Input” or “Primary Sound Capture Driver” in Device Toolbar that will only record from whatever is the default Windows recording device at the time.
