windows 7 - AUDACITY 2.0.5

I have converted from Windows XP to Windows 7. With XP I switched AUDACITY on and could start working. With W.7 I get top Tool Bars and bottom counters. In between is just grey screen. I do not know, how to get former normal working area.
Windows 7. AUDACITY 2.0.5. exe installer.

Thanks and regards

Simply run any desired command…

Thanks for reply, Robert2.

When I click on “RECORD”, the machine tells me:
Error while opening sound device.
I am afraid, this is beyond my computer skills.

You can use View > Toolbars then uncheck any toolbars you don’t like to remove them.

You can also drag and rearrange toolbars .

Look in Device Toolbar at what recording devices are in the third (input) box.

If the third box is empty you will have to show and enable your recording devices in Windows. See Missing features - Audacity Support for how to do that. Then restart Audacity.

If the problem persists, ensure Project Rate bottom left is 44100 Hz.

What exactly are you trying to record, using what input?

Gale

Thanks for reply, Gale.
I used to record tape cassettes from tape deck, vinyl records from turn table and music from internet. Project Rate is OK 44100 Hz. I am going to battle for a while and then I come back. Might be tomorrow only. I also need to change language to English. (My one is in Czech, I do not know why. Probably this machine knows, where I was born).

Hi Gale,

I do not exactly know how I did it, but it works. Thanks very much for your effort.

Fred

Audacity chooses its language according to the language you have Windows Region and Language “Format” set to.

If you still need to change Audacity to English, please see FAQ: Audacity isn’t displaying in the expected or desired language. Can I change this? .

Gale

Thanks Gale.
