Downloaded latest version of Audacity. Wrote a speech for Chatgbt to read and record. I chose WASAPI Host and my internal microphone. The playback will begin and then fade until no sound at all within a few seconds. I have a Dell 64-bit desktop computer. Is the software not recording, wrong settings or is the problem with playback? I don’t get any error messages.
To record what the computer is playing, the recording device required is the computer speakers, not the microphone.

Thank you so much! That fixed the problem. I don’t know why I thought a microphone would record sound.
