windows 10 update 1903 has moved the audio devices control panel

Unbelievably this has changed again and now its even more difficult!

Ignore this and see below
They’ve done it again for the 1903 update - shifted stuff around to cause more head scratching! More things are now incorporated into the new setup system and if you want to directly access the old “sounds” control panel to check your input and output devices you can do this:-

Right click the speaker icon in the task bar ( that’s the plain one not the Realtek or other sound card one).
Hover over > speaker set-up > to open a secondary menu
Click > advance set-up > to bring up the familiar “sounds” control panel.

Right click the speaker icon in the task bar ( that’s the plain one not the Realtek or other sound card one).
Choose open sound settings.
Scroll down to related settings.
Choose open sound control panel

Or if you like typing then use run and type
mmsys.cpl

As for functionality I haven’t used it enough to draw any conclusions yet.

I’ve updated this because Microsoft very soon changed it again. In fact either method might work. It seems to depend on which default device is selected as output. If I use Realtek digital output the speaker set up options are not present so you can’t get to the advanced set-up panel directly.
