I have tried everything but cannot get Audacity to work with my sound equipment and Windows 10. I’m using Line 6 ux1 as interphase, and with doing all the things as suggested on the web, I do manage to get Windows to use Line 6 as playback system. Audacity is however telling me “unable to find any audio devices - internal PortAudio error”!
Does this mean Audacity is now obsolete and should be discarded?
Is their a solution to this problem?
Reading other comments on this forum, it is obvious that it is a universal problem, without any specific solution!
My system was working perfectly until this evil beast called Windows 10 was downloaded and installed on my computer!
Audacity does not officially support Windows 10 yet. Please see https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/windows-10-audacity-internal-portaudio-error-or-no-devices/39353/1 The first step is to go to the web site of the computer manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer and see if you can find audio drivers for Windows 10 meant for your specific computer model. Then if you disconnect Line 6/Pod Farm and restart Audacity it might be able to use the built-in sound device.
I understand that there are issues with Line 6 devices on Windows 10, whatever the recording application used. Please contact Line 6 support about those issues. The more people who report issues the more likely they are to fix them.
You don’t say what version of Audacity you are using, but if Audacity doesn’t recognise your built-in sound devices, you could try Audacity 2.0.2 or 2.0.3 from http://www.oldfoss.com/Audacity.html. If you have current Audacity 2.1.1 you could try right-click over the installed audacity.exe, choose “Properties” then the Compatibility tab and set compatibility to earlier Windows. However no-one that I know of has said that helps.

Just got a Line 6 GX with Pod Farm and the GX itself works fine and Audacity 2.0 recognizes it but I get an error message when hitting the record button: Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate.
And good luck getting anything from Line 6. They make great stuff but from what I read these still have no updates for any Win OS before XP!! They seem not to care about it…
