I’m a new Audacity user with a somewhat strange problem. After installing vers. 3.0.3-64 bit on my machine (64-bit Win 10 Pro, vers. 2004), it would not go into “sleep” mode unless I forced it to do so manually. I presently have the power setting for automatic sleep after 30 min. of inactivity. With vers. 3.0.2 (32 bit) there is no such problem, and sleep turns on automatically as directed. I should note that after installing 3.0.3 I also installed FFmpeg_v2.2.2_for_Audacity_on_Windows_64bit.exe so I can’t be sure whether the problem is with Audacity 3.0.3 or with FFmpeg. At present, I’ve uninstalled FFmpeg and 3.0.3 and reinstalled 3.0.2. I would, however, like to be able to use the latest version, so any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks for the reply. I mean that the computer won’t go to sleep at all with Audacity 3.0.3 (and FFmpeg) installed, even with no user apps running. However, there’s no sleep problem with Audacity 3.0.2 (and no FFmpeg) installed. I suppose that the next thing would be to try just 3.0.3 without FFmpeg, but I thought I’d maybe save time by asking if anyone else has any insight here.
Just to update this thread – I did a complete uninstall of Audacity 3.0.2 (using Revo Uninstall) followed by a reinstall of Audacity 3.0.3 and FFmpeg 2.2.2, and everything seems to be OK now. The PC goes into sleep mode as it should. Not sure what the problem was before, but thanks for the help.
