Why can't gain envelope control points be deleted in Audacity 4?

I added gain envelope control points on an audio clip. According to the Audacity 4 documentation, envelopes are a visual layer toggled via the Automation button, and gain envelopes are clip-based — they stay with the clip when moved or copied.

However, once control points are added, they cannot be removed. The points persist on the clip and there is no apparent way to delete individual points or clear the entire envelope from a clip. This makes gain envelopes effectively irreversible, which is a significant limitation for normal editing workflow.

Expected behavior:

There should be a way to delete a single envelope control point (e.g. select + Delete key, or right-click → delete), and/or a way to reset/clear the entire gain envelope of a selected clip.

Actual behavior:

Envelope control points, once created, remain on the clip with no available method to remove them.

Is this a known issue in Audacity 4? What is the intended workflow for removing gain envelope points?

Thank you.

Try double-clicking the control point.

To be fair, this is not mentioned in the documentation. I found it when I double-clicked on a control point hoping to get a dialog where I could enter an exact value (or maybe it would revert to 0 dB).

Your method indeed worked.Thank you so much.
