Where is the back up music?

i just got a new computer, and on audacity version 3.3.3, i’m not able
to record as i did on my old computer. on the older version, i could
sing with a cd player (not connected to computer). the vocalist on
the cd and backup band and my voice were all recorded perfectly.

on the new version (new computer) the backup band does not record.
the vocalist on the cd and my voice record fine, but there is no
backup music. it comes out the same, whether i use the computer mic, or plug in
a usb mic. how do i correct this?

Turn off Windows Audio Enhancements: Disable Audio Enhancements - Microsoft Support

hello. thanks for answering my post. i turned off audio enhancements for both my usb mic and the computer mic. no change. still no backup music.

i just turned off audio enhancements for the speaker. so now both speaker and mic audio enhancements are off. still no background music.

So a couple of things to try:

  1. There are other 3rd party enhancements: https://www.dell.com/community/Desktops-General-Read-Only/Audio-Enhancements/td-p/5116901

  2. Are Skype or Zoom running in the background ?

  3. Are you sure your are recording from the microphone you think you are recording from? Double check Transport > Rescan Audio Devices, then redo your Audio Setup. Do the scratch test, by lightly scratching the microphone grill with your fingernails.

Good luck!

i just had dell tech support try to figure this out,
and they could not. do you have any other suggestions.
do you have live phone help?

I have nothing else to offer. Perhaps someone else does.
