I’ve been using Audacity for a couple of years with no problems. Last week I recorded a track onto it, selected it in Edit and then clicked on Export Selection in the File menu. Previously a small screen would appear on the computer, I would type in the name of the track and select OK and I would then be taken to another small screen where I could add artist, album title etc. Last week when I tried to Export Selection a screen came up that covered the whole of the computer screen. It’s headed Export File and it contains all the tracks that I’ve recently exported but haven’t yet catalogued in Windows Explorer. There’s a space at the bottom to type in the name of the track and Save/Cancel/Options tabs at the bottom of the screen but it won’t let me save the track. I’m wondering if I’ve inadvertently pressed something and altered a setting. I’ve closed Audacity down and re-opened it but it hasn’t made any difference. Can you please help?
Please read the pink panel at the top of the page and provide the information.
The latest Audacity version (currently 2.0.6) can be obtained from http://audacityteam.org/download/.
To read how to use the Audacity export dialogue in 2.0.6, please see Export Audio dialog.
If you are not sure how to use the controls on a standard Windows save dialogue please ask on a Microsoft forum. Briefly you can click in the “Save in” box at the top or use the icons on the left to navigate to the folder you want to save to.
If the export window is too large, hover your mouse bottom right of the export window and drag the window leftwards and upwards.
If you see an error message when you press Save, please tell us exactly what the error says. Please be aware that you cannot type the following characters in a file name on Windows:
