I’m running audacity 2.2.2 on Mac OS Mojave 10.14
when I go to export my file as a audio clip, audacity instead saves it as a text file. I just exported a song as mp3 and it saved as a “textedit” file. I went back into audacity to make sure I selected the file to be saved as mp3 and tried to export it again and once again it saved as a textedit file. This didn’t happen in audacity 2.2.1 (I just updated to 2.2.2 a couple weeks ago and started having this issue) Is this a glitch or is there something I’m doing wrong.
I’m running Audacity 2.3.0 on macOS 10.14.1. I cannot reproduce your problem.
Have you installed the LAME MP3 encoder?
